Culligan offers a 'lifetime' warranty on their softener resin beds but then makes exceptions for what are essentially normal water conditons. I live alone and my usage obviously was much less than average and yet my Culligan resin bed lasted less than 7 years (instead of the 7-9 they claim or the 14-16 of other companies in this area) and according to their interpretation of the warranty it was essentially void the moment I turned on my faucet. They cited in their list of exceptions the presence of chlorine and chloramines which are common treatment chemicals added to municipal water.

I've been quoted prices for resin replacement at $235.00 and between $300.00-350.00. These quotes came from the same Culligan dealer. I'm reluctant to do this with Culligan because I don't want their inferior resin again but I'm finding that other dealers don't want to work on Culligan units.

They use this warranty to get customers in and use it to bolster an inferior product they have no intention of backing. It's a big ripoff and you'd do much better elsewhere. 35b41f6

Re: Tyler the Culligan Installer.

In Canada, Culligan offers a lifetime warranty on the tanks and resin for all its current models, and a number of older models. Exceptions being mixed bed units (which may not be available in the US), as carbon is a sacrificial media. A warranty is voided if a non-Culligan person (such as the customer, a plumber, a contractor) services or moves the unit.

As for the resin... Culligan does not manufacture it, and hasn't in some time. It purchases it from Lanxess and Sybron.

change the resin yourself it is easy dump the tank out put in about 10 lbs of gravel number 2 and put in your resin next time you have a service tech at your house watch what he does and ask questions softeners are really easy to fix and after you have your new resin in you can use a hose to get the outlet manifold back in the tank with the water pressure

Culligan systems, like most single tank softeners, regenerate with hard water. This shortens the life of resins. Resin manufactures offer a one-year warranty on their products when sold to national brand dealers like Culligan, Rainsoft and Kinetico.

Twin-tank system regenerate with treated water so they will last longer. Kinetico offers 10 years on resins and seven if the water is chlorinated. A carbon filter adequate to remove the chemical is needed to protect the resins.

That's what you get with Culligan products that are now made in China. Their large plant in Northbrook, IL, has been closed and demolished. All they have is a small sales and engineering office in Chicago.

Rainsoft's warranty on resis is void is there is any iron in the water coming into the filter. You do not get this info until the unit is installed and you have read the owner's manual. Rainsoft gives a lifetime guarentee on its resin. The guarentee is only on 'manufadturers defects'. So the resin contains carbon and a formula known only to Rainsoft and Nasa according to the salesman. I wonder how Rainsoft can guarentee against maunufacturers defect of carbon. Rainsoft and it seem Culligan are complete liars and rip off artists.

Culligans is advertising that water softeners last only five years. Most will last more than 25 years!

If you allow this company to replace your GOOD unit with one of theirs - you will be trapped into buying one of their units every five years.

The costs will never cease! :(
